EASTLAKE, OH: Activities at the Croatian Heritage Museum and the Cultural Garden

The Croatian Heritage Museum staff has worked very hard on its exhibits this year, beginning with the traditional Easter customs.  The major exhibit was “From Old World to New World –The Artwork of George Jure Prpic.  The exhibit was curated by Frank Prpic and featured his father’s artwork, books, and poetry.  The next exhibit will be the traditional Christmas customs that will be exhibited from December 4th through January 13th.  The opening for this exhibit will be Sunday, December 4th at 1 PM.

Once again, the Cleveland Women’s Orchestra will perform a holiday concert to benefit the Croatian Cultural Garden.  This year they will be joined by the Ohio Dance Theatre, performing excerpts from the Nutcracker Ballet.  This is a wonderful opportunity for all to enjoy this holiday favorite.  Tickets are $20.00 for adults.  Children under 12 are free. For tickets, contact Mimi Raguz by email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call the museum at 440-946-2044. .  Please join us for an enjoyable Christmas concert and support the Croatian Garden.

Please visit the Nativity Exhibit, “Wise Men Still Seek Him” at the Historic Kirtland Visitors Center 7800  Chardon Rd., Kirtland from November 25th-December 30th.  Our Croatian Jaslice  will be on display there. Frances and Nick Babic prepared this exhibit.

Phase 1 of the Croatian Cultural Garden has begun this past summer.  So far the work on the waterfall, walkways, statue plaza, water hookup, sprinkling system, and grass reseeding have been completed.  The six Brac stone benches and the bronzed Immigrant Mother statue have arrived from Croatia.  Installation of the statue and benches will be completed this spring with the dedication ceremony tentatively scheduled for the month of May.  Look for details early next year.  We are looking for a small amount of Croatian soil to be placed in our garden.  Please bring it to the museum if you wish to donate.

Please consider becoming a Friend of the Croatian Heritage Museum and Library. Your  membership helps us continue our mission to preserve and promote our culture through acquisitions of folk art, fine art, books, and documents.  In addition, it enables us to continue creating exhibits throughout the year.  Thank you for your continued support of the Croatian Heritage Museum, Library, and Garden.
